Pinterest Projects Weeks 11, 12, 13, 14

8 Apr

Ok, so I know I’ve been telling you I’ve been busy.  And you may or may not believe me.  But it’s true.  I’ve been busy.

I finished my graphic design project, I spent a week at my parent’s, we had company here for a couple days and it’s been so nice outside, I’ve been doing some yard work.  So, I haven’t done as many Pinterest projects as I would like.  But here’s the round up from the last 4 weeks.

I had some great help with the cake and frosting!  The company that visited wanted to frost something, so we got out the Pinterest and searched for some inspiration.  I love what we came up with!  It was bright and colorful and the perfect dessert for the beginning of spring.  Thanks Alina and GMF for all your creativity and help!

Dining Room Makeover

18 Mar

Have you noticed a pattern yet?  No?  Well, I’m a bit surprised.

As I’ve said before, our house needs a good face lift.  And I’m so happy to share, it’s on its way.  We’ve done 1 guest room, our main bathroom, and our dining room.  These spaces (minus the bathroom) still need some decorating, but we’ve gotten the big paint jobs done.  And I had some great help with the dining room!

It’s so much better than it was!  We’re so pleased with it and now we just need to decorate a little bit.  I’ve got some vintage plates to hang up and maybe get some art work too!

Being Selfish

17 Mar

Today I’m doing things just for me.  Today I’m being a little selfish.

As you may remember, the hubs and I are trying to start a family.  It’s been harder than we thought it would be.  And we’ve been somewhat passive in our attempts to make things better.  But today I did something to help.  Today I joined Curves.

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this!  The hubs and I have tried joining a gym before.  It didn’t work.  We went a few times for a couple months, but then nothing.  It was hard for us to get into a routine and stick with it.  It was hard to go and feel judged by the other members and the staff.  And lets be honest, we’re lazy.  But last week I decided to set up a meeting at our local Curves and see what it’s all about and if it’d be a good fit.  I’m so excited to say it is a good fit!  I think I’m going to get so much out of it.  And the woman who runs it is great!  She’s supportive, informative, and is going to keep me on track.  And, damn it, if all the little old ladies who were there this morning can do it, so can I!

I’m also very excited about my afternoon plans.  Eric got me a gift certificate to a spa for our anniversary in October.  And I haven’t used it yet.  Well, this afternoon, 80 minutes of massage heaven will be enjoyed.  Again, I am so excited!

Am I being selfish?  Or am I taking good steps toward self-care?  Sometimes it feels like the line is a bit blurred.  I don’t get massages very often; I think the last one was over 2 years ago.  And starting to make a life change with Curves is something that will help me and my family for the rest of our lives.  Is that really being selfish?

Well, either way you look at it, the day is still about me!  And I’m ok with that. 🙂

Bathroom Makeover

12 Mar

Have you ever been so overwhelmed with a project that you just don’t know where to start?

That’s how we’ve felt about our house.  We’ve been here for 1 year and 9 months.  And we moved into a house with a bunch of wallpaper.  Some of it is just borders.  But some of it covered most of the walls in a room or all of the walls.  We’ve taken about half of it down.  Woo-hoo!  And thanks to the gals over at East Coast Creative, it was a cinch!

Seriously, I had taken down the top layer of the wallpaper, but didn’t know what to do next.  Then Jess and Monica posted about how to remove wallpaper the easy way!  Are you ready for the secret?  Fabric Softener.  That’s right, FABRIC SOFTENER!  Check out their how-to here.

We also had to fight mold in our main bathroom.  Yuck!  We had to fight mold in little ole Coyote Cabin too.  So, we weren’t so thrilled about it.  But, we got it taken care of and we’re done doing our bathroom!  What-what!!

I love our new shower curtain.  It reminds me of spring and I can’t WAIT for spring to get here.  It’s on its way.  I can feel it.

And…Happy, fresh bathroom to us!

And I almost forgot!  A BIG shout out to the hubs!  He did most of the work in the bathroom.  All I really did was scrape off the wallpaper and clean the fan cover.  Thanks honey!  You’re the best!

Pinterest Projects Week 10

I have only one project for you this week.  But I think that’s ok with all the other stuff that got done last week (more details soon).  So, here it is:

And Y’all, sometimes I forget to take pictures after I make something.  When it looks nice.  In a real bowl.  With a spoon.  This was one of those times.

Pinterest Projects Weeks 8 & 9

10 Mar

Whew…it’s been a busy few weeks.  My aunt was here almost a month ago and we quilted away making awesome sewing machine covers.  Eric and I have been busy with a new church and preparing ourselves for Lent.  My mom was here last week and helped me paint our dining room.  I worked in the camp kitchen this weekend.  And I’ve been doing some graphic design work.

Yep, it’s been busy.  But an oh-so-good kind of busy.

So, here are the projects that got done during weeks 8 & 9:

Not much for two weeks, but at least something!  I’ll probably have only one Pin done for Week 10, but that’s ok.  Remember how busy I was?
