Pinterest Projects Week 4

29 Jan

Well, I can’t believe it’s almost the end of January.  Seriously, there are only two days left in the month.  Whoa, time flies when it’s below zero for half the month.

This week I’ll be sharing what I did this week and some others I may have missed along the way.  There should be about a week’s worth of projects to see.  So, without any other ramblings…

Pinterest Projects Week 2

14 Jan

All of my Pinterest projects this week were recipes.  It was just one of those weeks.  So, get ready to want to eat.  Seriously, go put on sweatpants and then come back.

Soup and RollBacon Beer Cheese Soup with Chicken and French Bread Roll

Quinoa BurgerQuinoa Burger

Crispy Cheddar ChickenCrispy Cheddar Chicken

Almond Poppyseed BreadPoppyseed Bread

Cream Cheese Sugar CookiesCream Cheese Sugar Cookies

There you have it, ladies and gents.  A round up of this weeks yummy Pinterest projects!  I think my favorite was the quinoa burger, followed by the crispy cheddar chicken.  My least favorite was the bacon beer cheese soup.  It had too much beer flavor.  And if you know me, I DO NOT like beer.  I don’t think I even finished my bowl.

But enough about me, you must be starving!

Craft Room Makeover

10 Jan

I’m so excited to be in the new year and all the possibilities!  First, my wonderful hubby said I could redo my craft room and make it more user friendly.  How wonderful is he!?!?  He even went as far as to say we could spend a few hundred bucks on the space.  What?!?  Well, after the initial euphoria, I decided to use what we had and go from there.  So, ladies and gents…here it is (or at least the beginning) my craft room makeover on a budget!

Today (and a couple hours yesterday) was all about sorting through the junk I could see.  And rearranging.  Here are some before and afters:

Yesterday 1Before starting…ugh

Yesterday 2Before

Yesterday 3Last Before pic…I. Can’t. UGH.

As you can see, it was a mess.  And the hubs wondered why I didn’t actually craft in the craft room…

But I had some good pieces to work with.  A sturdy table for sewing.  Great shelf units that I customized (think spray paint and fabric).  And some other storage containers.  And like I said, I started by going through the junk I could see.  I threw away some things.  I moved our box of wedding stuff to the office to be stored in the closet.  I also moved all my stationary to the office and other random things like phone chargers, camera cords, etc.

I then decided how I wanted the room to function.  I moved my sewing table to the northwest corner, moved my shelving units to the north wall and added a folding table we had in the garage.  So far nothing spent.  Except some calories.  And I can spend a lot of those!  So, here’s where we are now:

Craft room 1I know, I know.  There’s so much more to be done.  But I have plans!

Craft Room 2Do you see all the windows?!?  It’s wonderful!

Craft Room 3It’s been great being able to start going through things and create a space I actually want to be in.

Stay tuned for more updates and how I’m saving money by using things I already have!  What a concept, right?

Pinterest Projects: Week 1

7 Jan

I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to post the Pinterest projects I’ve done.  It seems excessive to post one everyday.  And frankly, a lot of writing will have to be done.  And I love writing.  And I love you.  But I’m not sure I can keep up with an everyday thing right now.

When the hubby read I was going to do a Pinterest project everyday, he was a little confused when I said that included recipes.  So, for a little clarification…my intentions with the Pinterest-project-a-day goal was to do a pin a day from anything I’ve pinned.  I have soooo many things pinned, I need a goal and some focus to do some of them.  Thus, I’ll be doing anything from recipes to craft projects to home organization.  I think this will help declutter my mind, declutter my house and declutter my pinterest.  Besides, if I never do anything I’ve pinned, what’s the point?

For those of you who may be wondering what this Pinterest thing is, it’s quite delightful!  If you do know what I’m talking about, you know.  Pinterest is a website which allows you to “pin” things you find online.  It creates boards where you can organize craft projects you want to make, recipes you want to try, places you want to go.  It’s basically a cork board for the internet.  A filing system where you can click on your pins and it will take you back to the webpage you found it.

So, until I figure out how I’m going to show you everything I’ve been doing, here’s a glimpse at this weeks projects.

Pinterest Projects Week 1From top left and clockwise: 52 Week Money Challenge; Citrus All-Purpose Cleaner; 5 Star Enchiladas (with some tweaks); Mexican Rice (also with some tweaks); Waffle Cone Slouchy Hat

I only got 6 projects done this week, but I think it’s a good start.  I haven’t figured out everything I’m going to do this week, but there will be a couple recipes for sure.  Can’t wait to share more about what I’m doing!

Pinterest Project 1

2 Jan

The first Pinterest project I decided to do is a 52 Week Money Challenge.  Set aside a dollar amount corresponding with the week of the year: Week 1=$1; Week 20=$20.  By the end of the year, we should have $1378.  How fantastic is that?!?!  What are we going to do with that money?  I have no idea.  But it’ll be great to have at the end of the year for whatever we decide.  Vacation, tithes, gifts.  The possibilities are endless!

Here’s what I did:

All the piecesAll you need is tape, a jar (mine still smelled like pickles), money, scissors, a marker, and the 52 Week Money Challenge printout.

52 Week Challenge PrintoutCut the printout to fit on your jar.  Then tape the printout to the jar.  Easy, peasy.

Challenge JarAnd we had $3 laying around, so I’ve already completed the first two weeks!

You can find the original pin here if you want more information.

Look at me, I’ve already started doing one of my goals for the year.  Here’s to figuring out the next 364 Pinterest projects!
