Cat Matt Nathanson – Grand Adventure Part 3

17 Dec

I told you there would probably be a hiatus.  Didn’t I tell you?  You’re not surprised are you?  Nope, didn’t think so…

So, as I mentioned before, my adventure was quite grand.  So grand, it included a stop at the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis to see the one and only Matt Nathanson.

Now, if you have no idea who I’m talking about, check out this clip.  Isn’t he beautiful?  Ahhh…

He’s brought us “Come on Get Higher”, “Wedding Dress”, and  “Kinks Shirt”. 20131117_223031

It was an awesome concert!  Great opening act (I wish I could remember his name…).  Great places to stand (yep, it was general admission).  We were about 10 yards away from the stage.  There was a great energy in the room.  And I was there with wonderful people!  Thanks, Molly and Scott for a great evening!  Bekki and Cassie, wish you could have been there!20131117_223043

Crazy Quilting – Part 2 of the Grand Adventure

6 Dec

Whoa, two posts in a day.  Watch out world, you may not be able to shut me up now!  Ah, who am I kidding, I’ll probably go on a blogging hiatus again as soon as this post is done.

We’ll try to be a bit more positive than that though.  Mm, k?

As previously mentioned, my aunt invited me to come quilt with her and my grandma.  The goal: make as many lap quilt tops as possible in 3 days.  They would then be donated to a church group in my grandma’s hometown to be finished and donated to a children’s hospital in the Cities.

Goal accomplished: We made 7 tops in three days!  They’re cute, and fun, and will hopefully bring a smile to a child’s face.  My aunt and grandma made 3 tops during a previous weekend.  10 total!

Doing these tops was so much fun!  I usually quilt by myself, so to have others involved was a blast.  We also had to go to JoAnn‘s and Hancock Fabrics.  The abundance of fabric we already had wasn’t quite enough, we definitely needed more.

Don’t judge.  How much have you spent on those great hobbies of yours?  I thought so.

Grand Adventure, part 1

6 Dec

It’s been a few weeks now since my grand adventure.

What, I didn’t share with you that I was going on a grand adventure?!?!  Tsk. Tsk.

A couple weeks before Thanksgiving, a friend and I had plans to go to the Matt Nathanson concert in Minneapolis.  I was also invited to my aunt’s to help put quilt tops together for a children’s hospital in the Cities (the Twin Cities-Minneapolis and St. Paul-for those non-MN natives).  I also wanted to try to see my great grandparents.  The week after the concert I had a Dr. appointment.  And the following week the hubby and I would be heading to my folks for Thanksgiving.  Well…here’s how it went down…

Make decision about how the next couple weeks play out.  Decide to go to MN for 2 1/2 weeks.  Book flight for hubby from Milwaukee to Minneapolis.  Cancel Dr. appointment and reschedule for the next day.  Start the packing list.  Go to Dr. appointment and have 12 lab tests done (unexpectedly-Thank God for insurance).  Start packing.  Pick up house.  Buy some groceries for hubby.  Pack car.  Drive 6 hours to Woodbury.  Quilt for 3 days.  Go to Matt Nathanson concert.  Visit great grandparents on great grandma’s 95th birthday.  Drive 3 1/2 hours to folks.  Help dad with Christmas presents.  Visit friend.  Make place mats.  Sew quilt top.  Fix mom’s coat.  Go to Minneapolis to pick up hubby.  Play games.  Eat Turkey.  Open Christmas presents.  Drive 8 hours to in-laws.  Celebrate hubby’s birthday.  Go home.

I think that about sums up my grand adventure.  More to follow.  I’m exhausted thinking back to everything that happened and must now lay down and let my head stop spinning.

The spinning may also be from the fumes of cleaning our tub…
