Getting Ready

20 May

I started this blog two weeks ago.  As you can see, it hasn’t gone very far.

Life has been a little crazy in our cozy little cabin.  We spent a week in the Silver Valley discerning what God has in store for us.  After a week of back and forth decisions, lots of Friends and The Officewe’re back in our cabin and it’s even closer quarters.

There are boxes piling up and taking over our small living room area.  Some are packed with books and games and videos.  Others are sitting empty as we figure out our next steps.  But one thing is certain: we are moving June 1.

This decision has elicited so many different emotions; it’s been one helluva roller coaster ride.  We came at the situation already high strung from the stress causing the decision.  It took us a week to realize we weren’t going to be able to make the decision without help from an objective 3rd party.  The pastor who walked us through our pre-marital counseling was a huge blessing in our decision making process. She pulled us out of our “small” views and helped us see the whole situation.  We were finally at peace with a decision.

The last few days have been tough too.  As we get ready to move into the next chapter of our lives, there are great things we are leaving behind.  Friends who have been with us through all the tough times we’ve had in the last year, a lakeside home in the Inland Northwest, and a community which has taught us how to live graciously, lovingly, and for the glory of God.  These are not easy things to step away from, and June 1 will be one of the hardest days we will face.

But as we get ready to take our next steps, we know God has a bigger plan for us.  And we’re truly at peace.

Trust in him and he will lead the way through the ups and downs! A friend who just retired spoke of a poem when the journey on a path not normally taken provided many opportunities. Good luck on your journey!
